Natoma, and the American River in the city limits, Folsom is both a beautiful and recreational place to live. Folsom has a small community feeling with community events such as street fairs, concerts, and outdoor markets frequently.
At the base of the foothills, Folsom has many beautiful neighborhoods. Most homes in Folsom were built in the last 15 years as Folsom has been in the midst of a growth trend, however, there are some older homes and neighborhoods as well. Rents in this area will be slightly higher than the average in the Greater Sacramento area.
Historic Sutter Street (a well-preserved street from the Gold Rush era) in downtown Folsom offers art galleries and gift shops for weekend strolls. For serious shoppers, Folsom has a large center of Factory Outlets, a Power Center, and a mall is due to open in 2006.
Folsom is in the Folsom-Cordova school district and has some of the most well-regarded schools in the greater Sacramento area. Folsom High School is a state of the art school that opened in 1999.
